FAQs
Please check back as we will be adding more information in the coming months!
Does France have any specific passport requirements?
You may have heard that Alex had to take a day trip to Philadelphia to renew her US passport 24 hours before travelling to France… learn from her mistakes!
Keep in mind that passports must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned date of departure from France or the Schengen area (i.e. expiration date must be after September 2024). If your passport does not meet Schengen requirements, you may be refused boarding by the airline at your point of origin or while transferring planes. Other countries may require your passport be valid for at least six months. Please renew your passport early if needed!
Current standard processing times for US passport renewals are 10 - 13 weeks (plus it may take up to 2 weeks for applications to arrive by mail at a passport agency/center, and up to 2 weeks for you to receive a completed passport in the mail after it is printed).
Do I need a visa coming from the US?
No! The requirement for US citizens visiting Europe to obtain an approved ETIAS visa has been postponed until mid-2025.
Should I rent a car?
Yes! While transportation will be provided for the ceremony and reception, Uber/Lyft is not available in the area.
How do I get to the wedding venue? Will transportation be provided? Is there parking available at the church or château?
Transportation will be provided. More information to be provided closer to July 2024. Little to no parking is available at the church or Château Kirwan, so we please ask that you utilize the provided transportation. We will also provide a list of taxi companies in the area that you can book ahead of time.
What should I do between the ceremony and the reception?
We will be providing transportation back to the Golf du Medoc and Relais de Margaux so that you can relax between the ceremony and reception.
What should I wear?
We want you to wear whatever you feel comfortable in but we do have suggested attire for each event.
Welcome Party | Cocktail
Think a little less formal than Saturday - midi/short length dress or sport jacket & slacks. No ties necessary!
Ceremony & Reception | Formal
Think something between black tie and cocktail attire - long/midi length dress or formal suit & tie. The cocktail hour will be held in the grass and there is a gravel walkway between the cocktail hour and the reception, so block heels are encouraged. No jeans or sneakers please.
Farewell Brunch | Smart Casual
Think sundresses or collared shirt & slacks (sport jacket optional). No jeans or athletic wear please.
