Plane
The closest airport is Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport (BOD). There are no direct flights from the United States, however you can connect via many European airports. We hope that you will take advantage of the 4th of July holiday and spend some time in France or elsewhere before or after our wedding!
If you would like to spend time in France, we would recommend booking flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE). Both airports have direct flights to Bordeaux and you can also take a train from CDG or from central Paris (see below!).
Train
The closest train station is Bordeaux Saint-Jean. It is a 2-3 hour train ride from Paris Montparnasse station (central Paris) and there are over 20 trains a day. We would recommend booking trains via SNCF at least ~2-3 months out, especially since the wedding is the first weekend of summer vacation for french schools.
There is also a train station at CDG, however trains from the airport are typically not direct to Bordeaux (a transfer is required) and it’s much easier to fly if you are going straight to Bordeaux from CDG.
Car
We strongly recommend that you book a rental car. There are plenty of rental car companies at the Bordeaux airport and train station, which are each 25-50 minutes away from the suggested hotels (see bel0w). There is no Uber/Lyft near the wedding venues, plus we would encourage you to explore the many vineyards and wineries in Bordeaux! (We will provide more information regarding transportation to the ceremony and reception at a later date, as well as a list of taxi companies.)
Many rental cars in France are stick shift, so please reserve your rental car early to ensure that an automatic car is available!
